I went to watch Alice in Wonderland today. I know, I know. I must be one of the last to catch Alice in the cinema. So the boy and I went, thinking we’d be the only people in the cinema and… There were like others! Like a quarter of the cinema was filled. Watched it in 3d and I’d say that it wasn’t that good?
Maybe it was all the hype since last year that made us expect more. And the fact that Tim Burton and Johhny Depp are collaborating again. And that Alice is such a good movie to make.
Oh wells. The movie was a combination of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. A bit of the past and the present. The effects were good, the costumes were awesome and cinematography can be comparable to Avatar’s. As for the story, I don’t think it really captured what Lewis Carroll wrote in the book. What makes the book is Alice; her character, her curiosity, her inquisitiveness and her questions. The movie did not really capture that. Alice in movie did not have that depth in character. Instead, we were made to look at an Alice, who seemed to be looking for herself, who she was, and whether she could kill the jabberwockee. The boy said that the movie focused much on the hatter, because it was Johhny Depp.
True, but i don’t think the hatter had much to say. To me, the real highlights were the Red and White Queens. Their personalities, striking such a difference that became quite charming to watch. Kudos to the witty dialogue too, except for that occasional slang.
It was a good watch though I must say. Might get an Oscar for cinematography too. Annnd, tomorrow, I will watch Clash of the Titans, another big shot movie. Ahhh, life is good.
